Cooper and I were asked to attend the Greenwich Veterans Day Walk and Ceremony, along with our Hudson Valley Paws for a Cause group of therapy dog teams under the American Red Cross Banner. It was a gorgeous fall day for a walk to support and honor our veterans.
The many waving flags against the bright blue skies was a touching sight. From the many little children in strollers, or walking hand and hand with their parents, to our older World World II veterans arm in arm with other veterans and/or their families and friends, many were delighted to see our therapy dogs….petting and hugging them as we walked along.
During the heartwarming ceremony, our dogs stood at attention and were admired by many who passed by. The mood was uplifting, the faces of those from wars fought and those still serving our country, was awe inspiring!
It warmed our hearts to be able to give our personal thanks to those veterans who attended. And to “hug a veteran” brought tears to our eyes! We hold our service men and woman, past and present, in our thoughts, in our hearts and in our prayers, with loving thanks for keeping us safe and protected.
